My dad has always said that being great doesn’t just happen. Mia Hamm, Tiger Woods, and Michael Jordan didn’t just stumble upon being the best in the world. What set them apart from the other good players were their passion, their dedication, and their hard work.
Paul has been my coach since the very first time I strapped on a shin guard (yeah, they were Velcro way back then). In fact, the only reason Paul started coaching was because I started playing. At the rec level, my team was hardly coordinated. I’m sure parents were just happy to drop off their kid for an hour so they could run errands. Since then, Paul has worked with many athletes that have gone on to play college soccer. How does he turn kids who do kart-wheels on the field into Division 1 Level athletes? Easy. His passion for the game, his dedication to the kids he coaches, and the hard work he puts in to make every practice matter. He’s gone from being a good coach to a great one. You might think I’m biased. I probably am, but so what? The national licenses and state championship rings give Paul Campbell a pretty good resume.
So athletes, learn a lesson from Coach Paul. Here at CAMP we do our very best to make you the killer athlete that you have the potential to be, but unless you put forth your end of the bargain you won’t get very far. Find that same passion and dedication for what you do, and work hard every time you train. The same goes for anything else in life. If you do, you’ll be great.
